film review

Domino

This movie is a 2005 biography ( a very unique one) of Domino Harvey, daughter of an o Hollywood movie actor ,Laurence Harvey, that abandoned all her glamorous background and future to be a bounty –hunter. Harvey died of a drug overdose on June 2005, months before the film was released.

Domino (Keira Knightley) is spoiled daughter of Hollywood. She past form school to school and even abandon a promising carer as a model until she decide to be a bounty hunter. She trains with Ed Moseby (Mickey Rourke) and Choco (Edgar Ramirez) and became colleagues. They become a family and the love begins to grow between Choco and Domino, but a disastrous final mission end with the live of Ed and Choco. Still, Domino feels happy of the result, since she has accomplished her mission: to save the life o a little girl, tha will be a leader in the future, according t a dessert prophet.

Besides the story, I think that the interesting point of the film is the use of the visual elements. A chaotic use of the screen, with a too-much too-fast use of cameras, that could make you feel dizzy, making you remember old music videoclips. This esthetical use of the cameras you can love it or hate it, with nothing in between. In my opinion the strongest points of the film are the element of Domino, even the film isn’t enough for her, and the use of camera.

My classmate's blog

Today I am going to talk about a classmate’s blogspot. I do not really have a favourite one because I think that they are all unique, but since I have to choose one, I am going to talk about Carla`s blogspot. Her blogspot is very fun, and I really enjoy reading it, the layout of it is just like her, like the way she dresses. When you see this blog, you think about her. Her posts are really fun and interesting to read, and whenever she uploads pictures they are all interesting, and it is something that you know she really likes. Carla manages to keep the readers interested, and she always uses a lot of details about whatever she is commenting on. My favourite post of her is the one where she described what she did on Fiestas Patrias`s weekend. I like this post, because the things that she did are things that I also enjoy doing. What I also like about this blogspot is that it is all organized and there are barely any grammar mistakes. Her links are also really interesting and I have actually used them. I hope that she continues to upload entries.

Chileand weeken with chilean food

During the “Fiestas Patrias” of this year I went to Nancagua with my parents to enjoy a nice and familiar patriotic weekend. We arrived in the afternoon and our grandmother has just made a lot of empanadas, a typical Chilean meat. They were delicious! Although you can buy empanadas in supermarkets, there’s nothing like a home-made meal. Personally, I ate like four or five. The next day, the 18 of September, our cousins arrived too, and then the party really began! Wee spent the morning in the pool, a huge pool. Then we lunched humitas, another Chilean typical dish, made of corn and meat. I has been so much since the last time I ate them, that I ate until I explode (just kidding, y ate like 4, but it was a loot to me). Finally, in the night we made a barbecue with chicken, lamb and beef meat. We cook an entire lamb! I’ve never have prepared, or seen so much meat. Because of this, we finished eating passed midnight, it was so fun!

Art and Schizophrenia

Martin Ramirez is an arties that that lived between 1895 and 1963. He was born in Mexico, but soon moved to the U.S.A to support his family. When hi arrived to the States, he couldn’t communicate, because he didn’t know any word of english. Finally, he was arrested and delivered to a psychiatric institution. In the hospital, he was diagnosed with catatonic Schizophrenia. He spend more than thirty years in psychiatric hospital, and during this period he began to draw, and finally ha was discovered by a psychology. The topics of ramirez’s pieces are typical of the Mexican society: immigration, religion, folklore. Although his work could be named as simple, he has a great use of spaces and color. One of the most important merits of this artist is that his technique is unique. He never attend yo any art school, so he is a self-taught artist.

I like this painting “untitled”, because reflects part of the Mexican identity like the uniform and the animal.

Summary of an psychology article

The article I choose was "GROUP MEMBERSHIP AND SOCIAL INFLUENCE", written by Barry Markovsky and Christopher Barnum. This articles talks about an experiment of social influence. According to the classic theories of social influence, one person tries to fit in the group were he belongs or want to be part of. One of the many methods to fit in a group is act and thinks like them. This article put this part of theory tested. They tried to prove that the social influence of the group where the subject belongs is bigger than the influence of group where the subject doesn’t belong. The hypothesis was correct, the influence of a group is bigger when you belong to it.

Funny Website

One of my favorite websites is www.minijuegos.com. It's a site of mini games, (obvious!) that you can download and play in the moment. There are different types of games: platform games, like mario; adventure games, rpg games, etc. The webmasters upload new games everyday, so you choose from a big variety of them. I have been visiting this site for like a year, because mi computer didn’t have the capacity to install on it heavier games, so I began to look up i this was the firs site i found. Since then, i visit it like once in a week, although now I can install bigger games in my computer.

Text Summary

The nexy summary is about an article about phobias and the leraning mechanis involved in it.
Contemporary learning theories about the ethiology of fear and fobias

Among the classical theories, the ethiology of phobias has one of the simplest model. Watson and Rayner explained the phobias as a result of simple classical conditioning, where an Unconditional stimulus (any natural stimulus that causes fear) is associated with a conditional stimulus (the new object of fear). Modern approaches states that the role of classical conditioning is important in the ethiology of phobias, but is isn’t the only learning mechanism related to it. The Observational (where the subject learns how to fear copying what others fear) and the Instructional (where the subject learns to fear an object due to the information that others gave to him) learning are also important models in the acquisition of phobias.

My weekend

Well, remembering the last large weekend we have (and the only one that anyone could call "weekend"!) on April the 21º I went with my parents to the south of chile to visit my grandparents. We went to Marchigue, a small town located in the countryside of the Sixth region. It passed a long time since my last visit, so it was very happy occasion. We take a tour for the town, to se the changes in the years of my absent. Also we went to the "expogama 2007" a exposition of cattle and chilean folklore . During the expogama it realizes "chilean sports" like rodeo and dog-race. Also, there is chilean food like empanadas. It is very fun!

Psychosites

In the attempt of becoming a decent psychologist ,the students use every way, every item and every tool to aprove the exams and not die of chronic strees. So, we use the web as our favourite source of information, a useful tool of work and a as a good cathartic way.

Among the sites, I highly recomend the next ones:

www.apa.org The American Psychology Asociation. An excelent site to obtain information. Althoug is paid site, thanks to our proffesor of learning psychology, we dont have to pay anything!!!!!!!

http://www.psychology.org/ The Encyclopedia of Psychology. Another source of papers and essays about psychology. Althoug it isnt as complete as the Apa, its a free site.

http://www.prisonexp.org/ This site is about a famous experiment of a social psychologist, Philip G. Zimbardo, who tried to prove the importance of the social roles among the behavior of people. So, he created a fake prison where he puts college students and gave them the roles of prisoner and prison guard. The result of the experiment was very dramatic, it has to be ended prematurely after only six days because of what the situation was doing to the college students who participated. Even a movie was made about it, "The experiment", that was also very controversial (and very good!).

One of my songs

Well, I will post "creek mary´s blood". This song belongs to one of my favourite bands, "Nightwish". A norway band of "melodic metal" music. The lead singer, Tarja Turunen, had a beautifull voice, she sings like a soprano, wich guves a very unique touch to the band. This songs´s about the conquer of the "Americans". Tha massacre of the native people and how their heritage destroyed trough fire and steel. But the most important of the song is how they survive: tha legacy of their culture and their beliefs.

Soon I will be here no more
You´ll hear my tale Through my blood
Through my people
And the eagle´s cry
The bear within will never lay to rest
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
White man came
Saw the blessed land
We cared, you took
You fought, we lost
Not the war but an unfair fight
Sceneries painted beautiful in blood
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
Once we were here
Where we have been since the world began
Since time itself gave us this land
[Singing in Lakotan]
Our souls will join again the wild
Our home in peace ´n war ´n death
Wandering on Horizon Road
Following the trail of tears
Once we were here
Where we have been since the world began
Since time itself gave us this land
[Poem in Lakotan]
